Acute stress is the short term, immediate, short term body response to stress. Chronic stress is the activation of the stress mechanisms over long periods of time when a person is exposed to stressors that cannot be escaped either because they do not recognise them or because they have no control over them.
The slow burn is when the symptoms creep up on you over time and you don’t spot the signs and symptoms early enough.
