The Freedom Bus is a book about loss, hope, and adventure. But, most of all, it’s about a little girl who—despite an unusual beginning—dared to discover herself.
In her recently published book, the Freedom Bus, Jenny talks openly about the feelings of shame, rejection, and pain that came with being adopted, Jenny had lost the love and connection with, herself. On her journey of self-discovery, she has explored her past, examined her present, and reconnected with the future. Through her personal enquiry in midlife, she has been empowered to be her true self.
The Freedom Bus. The freedom self-discovery brings
As an adoptee, my search for understanding myself was perhaps greater than most. Even so, it’s a journey many people need to make. Within the book, I write from my personal perspective and as a corporate leadership coach. Sharing the process I take my clients through to help them make sense of their situations and find solutions to their biggest questions.
So, who is this book for?
- You might be a wonderful mother, a busy CEO, the owner of a start-up, or a frustrated creative like me.
- You may be highly successful and have a reasonably happy life – just itching for a more meaningful life.
- You’ve probably achieved a lot – but it’s no longer about the money because you’ve overworked and worn yourself out.
- You could feel trapped in a job with no time to enjoy your family and friends – and stuck in a role that is more like a hamster wheel than a successful profession.
- But one of the greatest tragedies of all is when you’ve lost meaning and life is restricting
The Freedom Bus – Don’t be ashamed of being yourself
I was little Pollyanna, grateful and happy for everything but secretly crying myself to sleep. Because I had squashed my feelings of loss, grief, and shame I hadn’t faced them and healed the pain. I spent many years hiding how I felt because I was embarrassed and had hidden from myself.
Whatever is happening, you may not feel free to be yourself. But there is always a way out, however bad it’s got. Through the deep exploration of my journey, I have found a version of myself that I didn’t know existed.
We all have our own Bus to Freedom. It’s never too late to be yourself
Through the work, I have done, and through writing this book, I have been on a journey of understanding, connection and compassion. Looking back and reassessing my life has enabled me to dare to discover my true self.
I have connected the different aspects of myself and have become whole. With true understanding, I see that I am more capable than I ever thought I was. I will never again let shame or rejection get in the way of who I am or who I am about to become.
I never want any child to be ashamed of feeling the way they do – because there is no shame in being you. I have told my personal story, but the pain is universal. We all experience loss, trauma, and hurt. I hope that anyone reading this book sees that it’s never too late to be yourself and that the world truly is your oyster.
At 52, I have never been more deeply grateful for the life I have. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I wish you and your family much happiness and joy.
